“Circuit Breaker” in Singapore: Overseas Singaporeans in Japan

While many overseas Singaporeans returned home before the “Circuit Breaker” kicked in, a number of Singaporeans continue to stay in Japan. Despite worries about Japan’s COVID-19 measures and potential healthcare collapse mentioned in the last interview, they have chosen to stay and fight the pandemic with Japan. Akadot TV spoke to a few Singaporeans in Tokyo, Kyoto and Chiba to find out why.

Japan declared a state of emergency on 7 April 2020, the day Singapore started its “Circuit Breaker”. Tokyo, Osaka and 6 other prefectures remain under the state of emergency, after the government relaxed measures on 14 May.
