It’s been 8 years since Chetan Kumsy and Risa Hatayama made Singapore their home. This year, they’re planning to celebrate Deepavali by going to see the festive lights at Little India and visit the temples.
Being a mixed family, their festive meal on this day consists of South Indian dishes like rasam and poori, and specially-made vegetarian yakisoba. We joined them for dinner and a chat over tea.
Here’s the Kumsy couple’s story of how they met, broke up, travelled across the world, before they finally overcame cultural differences, reunited and relocated here.
